WorldVision 40hour Famine

The World Vision 40 Hour Famine is New Zealand's most popular youth fundraising event. Originating in 1975 in response to the immense famine in Ethiopia. 10,000 New Zealanders united together to raise $265,000. 34 years later it's become part of New Zealand youth culture with over 120,000 participating each year.

Anyone can do it! weather it is with a school, church group, social group, work, family or just as an ‘individual’. Participants ask people to sponsor them for doing, or doing without, something they will find difficult for up to 40 hours.

The website is a crucial part of the Famine campaign as a a large percentage groups and users register online, setup there online Famine book and monitor and maintain there progress. Given the high volume participates it was critical that the website could handle high traffic volumes and the functionality was very robust.

The website OneClick designed and built includes:

  • Community Events System
  • Full Admin and Statistics System
  • Online Famine Book
  • Online Forum
  • Organizer Tools
  • Pledge and Donation Functionality
